Port Adelaide Plaza

The re-development of the Port Canal Shopping Centre has commenced, a $45 million construction project that will create almost 300 jobs and add significant economic prosperity to the iconic suburb of Port Adelaide. The Centre, which will be rebranded as Port Adelaide Plaza will expand from 19,000 square metres to over 29,394 square metres with an end value of $133 million - making it the most significant retail development of its kind in the local area in 40 years. The Centre (owned and managed by The Precision Group of Companies) will be rebuilt and extended to include 50+ specialty retailers, cafes, commercial premises, a childcare centre and restaurants. In a first for the region Aldi will open alongside existing retailers Coles, Kmart, Liquorland and Kmart Tyre and Auto.

Port Adelaide Plaza will be a destination and landmark precinct for people living in the north-western suburbs of Adelaide. The redevelopment of the Centre will have a significant impact on the local economy, creating 120 jobs during construction jobs and a further 160 full time retail jobs – or almost 300 jobs in total.   

Port Adelaide Plaza will be a collection of pedestrian friendly and inspirational spaces to explore, savour and enjoy, allowing locals, visitors and tourists alike to soak up the unique atmosphere.

The design of the Centre will be sophisticated in its appeal and inviting in character, encapsulating the strong history of the local area whilst providing a contemporary shopping environment. The design will include the use of natural and industrial building products that reflect the heritage and future growth of Port Adelaide.

The Precision Group has been working closely with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council to develop nearby streetscapes, including the significant upgrade to Church Street dedicated to improving customer safety and pedestrian access from Dale Street as well as greatly enhancing the areas aesthetic. Alternative and convenient car parking will be provided throughout the redevelopment, with increased car park capacity expecting to total over 1,000 car parks available to the Centre’s customers upon the projects’ completion.

This development will play a vital role in supporting other commercial and residential developments within the local area, ensuring continued growth and revitalisation over the coming years.

Stage 1 is expected to open mid-2019 followed by Stage 2 expected to open mid-2020.
